Yacht Tender
16 Ft. Carvel Yacht Tender by Percy Dalton.
A roomy traditional yacht tender with three rowing positions and a small downwind lug rig. It was probably based on the small oyster punts which were common on the Fal and Truro Rivers; some were, I believe, used for salmon stop-net fishing too. This would make a nice stable family dayboat or small workboat. Construction is quite heavy with 1/2" (12.5mm) planking and would need good boat-building skills.
Length. LOA 16'-0" (4.87M)
Beam, 5'-0" (1.52M)
Draught 0-9" (0.23M)

Saint Melorus
St. Melorus is a 28 Ft. Falmouth Oyster Dredger, perhaps better known as a Falmouth Working Boat.
It was designed by Percy Dalton for Terry Heard and was built in wood by Terry at his yard near Mylor.
Length overall 28'-0" (8.5M)
LWL 26'-0" (7.9M)
Beam 9'-0" (2.75M)
Draught 4'-4" (1.32M)
Sail Area 700 sq. ft. (65 sq. m)
This is a relatively shallow-drafted boat, a feature required for dredging over the oyster beds in the River Fal, with a large open working cockpit. No engine was specified as working under power was not allowed by local bye-laws.
There is no accommodation except for a small 'cuddy' under the foredeck which could be enclosed to make a spartan shelter. There is no engine and modifying the design to accept one might be difficult, and any modification to the lines would probably reduce the performance under sail.
Design 281.
