The author was an early advocate of the glued clinker plywood method of construction. He argued that modern marine plywood and epoxy adhesives could provide a long lasting watertight structure, and that his simplified frameless clinker plywood construction method provides a strong lightweight hull that can be 'dry-sailed' off a trailer or car roof rack, and 20+ years of experience has show him to be right. This is an excellent textbook, each stage of the process being clearly illustrated by many of the 500 b/w photos or drawings. The section on 'lining out' or 'lining off' the planking - determining the number and shape of the planks, a stumbling block for many first-time builders, is excellent and can be applied to glued or traditional construction. As opposed to the 'How to Build ..." type of project book, the methods described here can be applied to a wide range of small boats, not just the author's own designs.
